We pulled out of West Yellowstone this morning and took one more drive through the park. Heading southbound from Yellowstone on Hwy 89 we entered the Grand Teton National Park.
Between the two parks we stopped in at the Flagg Ranch for lunch. It was the first day they were opened for the season and lunch took a ridiculously long time to come out after we ordered. Just bad luck. I’m sure they are great once they are fully up and running.

The drive south from there offered some of the most breathtaking scenery we’d seen in the States. The Tetons certainly live up to their ‘Grand’ moniker. To borrow a term from my Aussie friends we were completely ‘Gobsmacked’.

We stopped over to just take it in. Check out the video of this amazing vista.
INSERT.
We came down into Jackson Hole and found our campsite behind the Virginian hotel just north of downtown. We drove back to town after parking Kodi and did some exploring of the Square and the surrounding shops.

There is a nice shaded park in the middle of town. The pathways leading into the park take you under large archways built from antlers and beside lush grassy areas with ground squirrels skittering around. It was pretty idyllic and we stuck around for a while just enjoying the afternoon.

After a little inquiring we found a place where I could get my haircut the following day. Nearby we stumbled upon Jackson Roaster’s coffee house. With a few hot drinks ordered we took up residency at the bench in the lawn and did a little reading and sipping.

We toured around a little longer after our drinks and really enjoyed this quaint little town. A quick spin through Kodi to get cleaned up and then we were off to dinner at the Snake River Brewery. The place was slammed, plenty of people and dogs lounging with a cold one on the porch and just as many inside. It was obvious this was a piver town because 50% of the patrons were dead ringers for rafting and fly fishing guides. The Teva tans and sunglasses on crockies were a dead give away.

The food was excellent, the beer was tasty and the atmosphere was laid back and casual. It is a neat building and if we had one locally back home like this we’d surely be regulars.
After dinner we drove around a bit just exploring and came across a baseball diamond where a little league game was taking place. We pulled up and watched these young athletes give it ago at bat and enjoyed the watching as dusk began to settle on Jackson.
We finished the night watching the tail end of Dancing With The Stars and the Bachelor back at Kodi and then we were off to bed.
