It was cloudy this morning as we packed up Kodi for the trip to Seattle. We got our last free of charge full service fill up thanks to Oregon law and within a few miles were in Washington State. Driving was a tad boring today. We knew Seattle wasn’t too far off and we didn’t really need a mid day break since it was so close.
However the winds of fate were blowing and as we pulled off for some lunch. We lucked into an incredible strip center Thai restaurant with excellent soup (Kam’s new favorite) and as we pulled off the freeway we spotted a sign for the Woodland City Tulip Festival. LOL as if the Ronoculus fields of Carlsbad, CA weren’t enough.

So with some lunch in our bellies we followed the little tulip signs through the city and out into the farming land until we came to a big Tulip processing plant. We were unfortunately a day late for the festival but there was still a small show field and I did manage to save a little bee from certain asphyxiation. Check out the video.

It was late afternoon when we pulled into the KOA park in Kent, WA. Just a few miles south of downtown and with ample green space Kent fit the bill. The weather was still nasty so we decided to just set up and take care of a few errands.
I got the LP gas tanks filled at our campsite and we tried to get the internet running to no avail. But with an itch to explore we couldn’t stay put long. We found a shopping area north of us and Kam picked up a new camel back for hiking at the REI store since her other generic bag had been a constant dripping mess. We of course had to feed my addiction and we took a stroll through the nearby Barnes and Noble book store.
As evening was rapidly approaching we grabbed some dinner form a unique little sushi place in this shopping district. The sushi cam around the restaurant on a conveyor belt and you just picked the sushi you wanted to eat and then stacked your plates. The waitress would come tally up your plates and figure the price based on the color of each plate. It was really cool and really fast and we were back onto completing our mission of finding a grocery store.
No kidding we drove for 45 minutes looking for on grocery store. People in Seattle must just get so much rain and therefore be so depressed that they would prefer to eat out at the many restaurants than challenge themselves by cooking. Ughhhhh finally we found a Safeway and stocked up for the week and took advantage of a substantial savings at the Safeway gas pump outside.
Now that our search was over it was off to bed and to watch the recent installment of LOST on TV before nodding off to sleep.
