Day 44 - Leaving San Francisco for Yosemite

We woke to a rainy San Francisco morning. Socked in with clouds and a steady drizzle we packed up the Fox. The weather was like a barometer for my health as I was seriously under the weather and moving about in the cold drizzle was not helping much.

Fortunately once the truck was packed we were off to meet Susanne at a postcard worthy greasy spoon diner. Replete with checker board linoleum tile floors and a raised up center counter this was as legit as it comes. Breakfast was good and it was nice seeing Susanne one last time before we headed east.

We were on our soggy way after breakfast and drove east towards Yosemite. It was cool taking the Bay Bridge out of town as it is pretty long and we were riding underneath the incoming traffic to the city betting pummeled by rain draining down between the joints in the roadway above us. The rain was unrelenting all day and it made for a taxing time on the road. We slugged away at it though and within an hour or two San Fran was a distant memory. We stopped for lunch and a refuel and then off again towards Oakhurst.

When we arrived at our campsite it was all I could do to unhook the trailer, set up the utilities and then fall in bed. Oh sweet sweet sleep. Kamrin was a trooper and ran to the grocery store and hooked us up with some much needed larder for the pantry.

We took it easy this evening and just cooked up some chicken noodle soup and served it with fresh sourdough bread. It was a simple arrangement, but for me a hot bowl of soup and the company of my wife was pretty close to perfect.
