We left Newport around 10:30 bound for San Diego. We took a few detours long the way to catch beachside views in Carlsbad and La Joya.
We took an early lunch break to visit with one of Kamrin’s former volleyball teammates Noelle Moore. Lunch was excellent and catching up with Noelle was really fun, but we couldn’t dally and we were off again down the coast.
We drove along the coast through Pacific Beach and on down into San Diego. We stopped along the water to take some pictures of the USS Midway aircraft carrier and the surrounding park.

Just beyond the Midway was the entrance to the Seaport Village shopping area. We spent some time strolling and shopping around this cool outdoor marketplace. With ideal weather and the sounds of an Andean band in the air we meandered around this unique spot.
We took a quick rubbernecking spin through San Diego’s Gas Light district. This gentrified area of downtown was full of trendy shops and nightclubs. Just past this district we found the causeway to visit Coronado Island. After a spin we headed back north out of town.

One “must see” between Newport and San Diego are the flower fields of Carlsbad. Check out this amazing place in the video and pics below.

After our flower tour we met up with my uncle Guerin at a nearby hotel. He was doing some work in Carlsbad, CA and getting ready to go oversees to check on the production of his 2-Bar putters. Guerin is always up on what is cool wherever he is so without further adieu he ushered us off to Station Sushi in Carlsbad for the most amazing sushi dinner any of us could have ever anticipated.
