Day 15
We took the Highroad to Taos today leaving Santa Fe behind for the high country. We took our time both out of a desire to take in the scenery and also out of necessity since pulling Kodi through these mountains is a bit of a challenge.
We were amazed that people lived along this remote stretch of road, granted it was beautiful but it was equally isolated. We were thankful for our satellite phone seeing as how we didn’t have cell phone service the whole trip.
It was so cool to see the topography change yet again. The sagebrush remained but it was slowly replaced in part by more Alpine fauna. We saw some of our first Pine trees and Aspens as we got closer to Taos.
Taos still has a southwest feel to it. Adobe is still the favored construction material and it is also fairly arid. We parked the RV outside of town right of the highroad and drove into town to walk around a bit. We ended up in a coffee shop with good internet and it was a welcome relief to be able to post some content.
We finished the day off by taking up Patrick Mosley’s suggestion of eating at Taos Pizza Out Back. The place was packed but we were seated immediately and just in the nick of time as the place really started hopping just after we were seated. The Pizzareia specializes in hand tossed pizzas and sells them most often by the individual slice. The slices were massive and Kamrin and I only ordered on each. The slices were literally the size of someone’s head. Check out the picture. No Joke.

Needless to say we left full and happy ready to take on Taos tomorrow.
