Day 14 - Bandelier National Monument

We dedicated today to visiting the Bandelier National Park which is northwest of Santa Fe. “The ancestors of modern Pueblo people built thriving communities in the area called Bandelier about 600 years ago. Several thousand Ancestral Pueblo dwellings are found among the pink mesas and sheer-walled canyons. The best-known archeological sites, in Frijoles Canyon near the Visitor Center, were inhabited from the 1100s into the mid-1500s. (http://www.nps.gov/band/)”

As the video and pictures will testify the day was gorgeous and we really couldn’t have asked for a better way to log our first hike of the trip.

After the hike we returned to Kodi got all gussied up and drove back in to the Plaza to attend to the dinner reservations we had at the Casa Sena. The Cantina is a quaint little L shaped dinning area with a piano at the apex. As the servers go about taking orders and bringing food throughout the evening they also take turns, or as a group, to sing covers of Broadway hits. We heard songs from Wicked, Little Shop of Horros, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Jekyll and Hyde and others. It was a wonderful way to spend and evening and we were grateful that Momma and Pappa Purser had suggested the place.

Just another day on the toad in our incredible country.
